I hope you all had a safe and superb weekend! I got my Mac fixed at the genius bar today, and it's all better now! Didn't even cost me anything... which is good considering the money I spent while on vacation last week!
So last night, lots of people who live around the downtown area, as well as people outside of it, went down by the New Street Bridge to watch the fireworks. K and I walked down there from our apartment, and found a spot on the grass, in a little park by the bridge, and amidst onlookers and fireflies, we waited for the show to start. There was so much excitement in the air... a couple ice cream trucks came out and sold cold treats to hot people. It's full-on summer here now! Hot and humid with crickets always chirping. The first few fireworks that went off startled some shrieks out of people (I just jumped) and got our pulses going... then once it started, wow. It was glorious! My mouth was hanging open, and every now and then I'd film some footage for a future video, and then back to watching in wide-eyed wonder with all the other kids.... I adore fireworks! They are beautiful and transcendent of their purpose: to entertain. They bring out such joy in people of all ages.... Am I alone in feeling that they bring people closer to the present moment? They snap you into the Now and keep you there. You are not thinking of the past, the future, worried or regretful... you're celebrating the moment you're in! Fireworks are such an amazing thing to me... when you watch them, you don't want to be anywhere else, doing anything else. In that way, I believe that they're almost supernatural. I wish that we could always feel that way, with or without fireworks. Life would indeed be extraordinary, wouldn't it? Isn't it?
