Work Day Musings and Photos

I forgot to share with you the pie I made for K's birthday! It turned out great, except that I screwed up the crust. It wasn't nearly as good as last year's crust. You can't really see it in the photo, but trust me, it wasn't as good as last year's. I think he still likes it, though. Half of it is gone!

On my walks to work, I see lots of cool things, and I wanted to share them with you. Here are some photos I collaged for you. The gardens still have lots of bright flowers in  explosions of yellow, pink, white...

I love the mossy green bricks in some of the shadier gardens! Also, some of the autumn plants are blossoming... like those orange lanterns, above. I also like to peek into the hidden gardens of some of the homes...

I love the cascades of pink flowers on the second story balcony of the home above. And check out these bright pink morning glories on the balcony of one of my favorite converted homes in my neighborhood... Lots of people live in this mansion, and there are little gardens outside, as well as on the decks above the first story.

It's a joy walking to work in the lovely weather we've been having! It's warm, but not too humid. The evenings cool down now, like what I'm used to on the west coast. Also, the air smells very nice pretty much all the time! In spring, when people were composting and fertilizing their gardens was probably the smelliest I've ever smelled the area. But luckily that didn't last too long!

A couple rabbits in a garden along my walk.
I got an hour and a half massage today. It was wonderfully relaxing! I'm sure to get more, as I've been encourage to try out all the masseuses, and all the various modalities of massage. There are many! I'm going to wait until winter to try the hot stone massage. Work is tough sometimes, but hey, I'm up to the challenge!

I hope you're all enjoying the last bits of summer while we have it... soon it's autumn, which is my next favorite time of year (ties with spring, actually.) No need to worry about winter... it'll be here soon enough.

Autumn In Full Swing!

A squirrel's nest!

My favorite tree at the Nisky Hill cemetery

I love seeing glimpses of secret gardens, even from below!

The mums in my yard... the only thing blooming!
I hope you enjoyed taking this autumn walk with me... we went through a cemetery, and my favorite alley on the way back. It's definitely fall, and the air is getting chiller, and the leaves are getting more colorful! Here are a couple pictures of some nice homes in my neighborhood... there's something about historic homes that are still being lived in that I find very lovely and intriguing. I'd love to live in an historic home! They have so much craftsmanship and detail that I find pleasing....

This is my favorite house, which is for sale. LOVE.

Peek-a-boo!
I love the neighborhood I live in! It has the nicest old homes, where people care for their landscaping, and it feels really safe. I love walking around in it... wait until this winter! I'll be doing a winter snow walk, if there's any snow, and take pictures of something that I've not experienced in a looooong time! SNOW!

Green Shutters

I don't know why, but green shutters make me happy... the first ones were the best green. Unfortunately, my phone camera didn't quite get the color right. I think because it was such an overcast & rainy day. But I love that the shutters here in Bethlehem are REAL shutters, and they actually close up to protect the people inside when the weather is really bad. Or maybe when they want to get a bit more sleep. Or for the vampires in town. Haha! Just kidding... there are no vampires in Bethlehem.... right?

More fallen leaves
And the last picture I just threw in because I really like to see the fallen leaves... the colors are always so harmonious! Happy First of October, Everyone!

Rainy Day Walk

Today I really felt the need to get out of the house. The only getting out I've done this week was to the grocery store. It's been raining, though it's still kind of warm, which has kept me in. When the rain let up a bit, I ventured outside this morning, and I took some pictures along the way for you, dear readers.
Love this sidewalk with leaf impressions in it.
I love seeing fallen leaves scattered about.
Don't know what this plant is, but it's darling!
Fall color thru the ivy.
Love the red barn door.
I see hearts everywhere!
It was a really lovely walk... two people smiled at me along the way, and I felt connected to humanity again! I also love getting in touch with nature, even if it's of the garden variety. I also saw a bird because I heard it's strange call, but I don't know what it is. Do you?
It's not a blue jay. I don't think.
I also took a couple pictures of my favorite house that's for sale right now. I love the funky chandeliers they have hanging out over their outdoor porch. The people are really nice, too. They have a nice sense of aesthetic, as you can see by the garden. Sorry my pictures aren't so great. It had started to rain more and I didn't want my camera getting too wet!
Oh, I guess you can't really see into their garden from my pictures. But see that back part of the house there? It's a huge house.... I love the front entry, which has the framed glass walls like a conservatory! The old brick and black shutters are such a nice combination. It's an old home. I forgot to check how old, but there's a plaque on there somewhere, from the historical society. If I had half a million dollars, I'd buy this home!
