Show and Tell of My Last Glass Projects

First off, my sister came to visit on Thursday for a couple days! It was sort of sudden, as we both kind of lost track of time. She called me that morning to tell me that she was going to be coming over in a few hours... so I was cleaning like crazy Thursday!! The place was pretty nice by the time I picked her up from the bus station at 4 pm! We had a super fun night hanging out, even though it was rainy and stormy outside. It cleared up in time for us to meet up with my boyfriend and a friend of ours at the Brew Works for some appetizers and micro brews. Yum!

On Friday, my sister and I went to the Glass Works and picked up my last two pieces from the kiln. She got to see the foundry, and also my instructor doing a one-on-one private lesson with a student. She saw molten glass being worked and felt the heat of the glory hole!

I'm sad to say that my second flower wasn't as cool as my first flower, just bigger... but my vase turned out pretty nice! I don't know... you can see where I gripped the neck too hard and crimped it a bit with the jacks. But it's a pretty nicely shaped and proportioned vase, I think. I'm definitely going to use it to hold cut flowers!

I really do want to take this class again... if not the full class, then a private class would be cool, too. I think I'd progress faster if I got one-on-one time with an instructor. But I do enjoy the social atmosphere of an actual class. So, we'll see. I'm glad you've enjoyed following along with me as I learned this exciting new art form! I wish I had more amazing finished projects to show you. Maybe next time!

You've got some beautiful items for your home - I adore the glass flowers - the colours are gorgeous. It's great when you take a class and discover a new love - good luck getting sorted with future tuition.

Thank you all for your kind comments about my glass... it was fun!

And I had a blast with my sister... I cried a little after she got on the bus to go to NYC, but I'm feeling chipper again! :-)

The colour in those flower are amazing. I'll be proud of the vases, they have unique shape, it's one thing I like about handmade stuff. If you take another glass class again. Hope you'll have a chance to explore how to make glass bubble with feather inside and share it with us :)
