A Fancy for Silverware

I know it doesn't make sense, but I love fancy, old silver-plate or real silverware. There's something very luxurious about it. I like collecting mismatched pieces, although the photos here show a set of matching spoons and knives that I bought recently at a second-hand store for super cheap.

I once threw a small brunch for four and set the table in all vintage items: table cloth, linen napkins, gold-tinged bone china, cut glass stemware, and beautiful old silverware. It was just eggs, waffles, fruit and coffee, but it FELT like a FEAST. A feast for the senses! And we enjoyed every minute of it. Now, isn't that more like what life should be about? In my world, the answer is a resounding "Yes!"

I would LOVE to throw a brunch like that! I have a vision of owning a little house with a great garden, and throwing dinner parties with colorful dishes and glasses that don't match with fairy lights twinkling above.

In my vision, I also know how to garden and you know... cook, but details, details.

You can totally have your vision! Your dinner parties sound amazing!

And you know what, you learn gardening as you go... as for cooking, well, you can always have your friends help with that! I learned to garden with my own house/yard, and it was one of my favorite things to do. Hands deep in the soil, tending to the little green things of Nature... I love it!

Gardening sounds like it would be so relaxing, once I figured out how to do it. Here's hoping one day I'll have a spit of land to try it out!

BTW, I totally forgot to email you back yesterday. I'd love it if you played along with the 52 Colors Project!

Excellent! I'm still working out what I want to do once a week for the next year... it's difficult to decide!!

What a cool thing to collect! I love the look of vintage silverware, especially how ornate and different it can be from the modern styles. Your brunch sounds so inspiring, with a simple menu and stylish table setting!
